TITLE:Untitled Love Song (4859)
AUTHOR: Estela Anderson
FROM: Precious Hearts Romances
PAGES: 128

REVIEW

GENRE
Romance, Drama

PLOT
The plot was surprisingly good, but the writing failed to give justice to it. There's a really nice drama potential if only it was handled well.

POINT OF VIEW
There are instances when the heroine's POV tend to be too mysterious that some relevant information were taken for granted or end up as side comments.

CHARACTERS

GREZELL
Her character has really good potential, but the story was still "raw". She could still show so much more—her past, her heartaches, all those pent up emotions... Everything could have been explored further.

LUKE
There are inconsistencies with his character while in college and when he grew up. I think he was not tortured enough to be able to handle his later role in the story. I was craving for more scenes that showed his background, rather than a summary of it. Like a relative who suddenly appears out of nowhere and becomes a PITA (pain in the a**)... things like that. And I always forget that he has glasses. I guess it didn't completely get through to me.

OTHER DETAILS

I'm disappointed with how the story was handled. There were scenes that could've been used to strengthen the bond between the hero and the heroine, but it was wasted on useless things. Like the secondary character dialogues, for example. Zeek was enough for me.

Details. It lacked important details. It felt like the story was a long summary, with everything generalized and narrated. It's hard to get attached with the main characters.

Potential. I felt that the conflict was really good, but the writing technique did not deliver.

The emotional scenes felt forced. Not enough background to support it and give it credibility.

The antagonist was not given enough space to be evil. It's essential to the drama, to make the readers feel what the heroine was feeling.

Favorite scene: none

Favorite dialogue: When Luke was appealing to Grezelle's conscience. He was a good and mature guy.

CONCLUSION
I felt that the book was not yet ready, owing to the author's lack of skill. It can actually stand on its own without mentioning the grandeur of the university or the baseball club activities. Those were unnecessary. But it's too late. Anyway, 2 stars for the plot potential.

RATING:  2 STARS  ★ ★
