AUTHOR: Dwayne Izzobelle
FROM: Precious Hearts Romances
PAGES: 128

REVIEW

GENRE
Romance, Drama

PLOT
The plot was a mess. It dragged and ran for its own convenience. I had no time to build up my emotions and sympathize with the characters.

POINT OF VIEW
The POV was okay, but it failed to use its potential. It was wasted on unnecessary details.

CHARACTERS
EMBER
I was expecting Ember to grow up with the same values at least. But she just changed even before I was able to relate to her. She was thrown hard things, but it’s as if she brushed them off and went to her happy life. She had no motivations. Not much of a character there.

THIRD/CYD
I didn’t see the point in giving him two names when the conflict that’s supposed to be the key to this change in name never happened. I was expecting that it would cause a problem between the main characters, but it did not. I did not find him even a little bit charming.

The main characters had no connection of some sort, even as kids.

OTHER DETAILS
In the part where the characters were still kids, it felt like they were adults talking in child language. “Sa murang edad” didn’t tell me much about their age. It was hard to imagine it in a realistic way. That was important to me.

I was not amused at the first part. The dialogues were not witty. I mean, who would want to listen to kids throwing dialogues? To think this is a ROMANCE novel. If it's an epilogue of some sorts, maybe. Epic fail in using childhood.

I was aghast (ayan, lumalabas ang mga pang-baul kong salita) upon seeing Ember still talking after that incident at their kitchen. Woah, superwoman.

I also couldn’t believe that Ember would be surprised at what happened to her mother considering her line of work.

Sadly, I found the scenes... lacking. I had no favorites.

The dialogues are dragging, too.

CONCLUSION
It was just too fast and messy for me. I couldn’t quite grip the emotions. There was a potential of a good, if not typical, plot. But the author failed to deliver. Boring read.
